Gardai use defibrillator to resuscitate man on Oliver Plunkett Street

Gardai had to use a defibrillator in the city centre over the weekend to help resuscitate a man whose heart had stopped on Oliver Plunkett Street.

The man was found by Gardai on routine patrol in an unresponsive and unconscious state at around 8pm on Saturday night.

The Irish Examiner reports that Gardai used CPR and the automated external defibrillator (AED) located outside Penneys to resuscitate the man.

He was taken by ambulance to the Mercy University Hospital where his condition is now described as stable.

The Defibrillator used by the Gardaí was one of the 14 machines installed in the city by the Cork Lions Club charity and Cork City Centre Defibrillator Project.
