Government expected to discuss compensation for Bandon at Cabinet

The Government is expected to discuss at Cabinet level the issue of compensation for Bandon flood victims tomorrow morning..

That's according to the Chief Executive of Cork County Tim Lucey who was speaking after the town was left under feet of water after Storm Desmond hit the West Cork town hard at the weekend..

The army had to be deployed and Bandon was closed yesterday as the fire brigade pumped 5,000 gallons of water from the streets as many premises were under water 
Over 30 properties in Bandon were damaged by the flood waters and many of these home and business owners have no flood insurance after the deluge that hit the town in 2009.. 

A multi-million euro Flood Relief Scheme commissioned by the OPW and Cork County Council is in the pipeline but the delay in the project has been slammed by traders
