Government to review state retirement age

The Government is to review the state retirement age early in the New Year, in a bid to tackle concerns over the rising cost of state pensions.
Minister for Social Protection, Leo Varadkar, says changes to employment law could allow flexibility in the workplace and also cut down on age-discrimination.
New measures could allow public and private sector employees to have an option to work beyond the age of 65 - or take early retirement on a reduced pension.
