GRA critises the number of recruits assigned to the Cork region

Five garda recruits have been assigned.

The appointment of five new garda recruits to the Cork Metropolitan region has been criticised by the Garda Representative Association.

The GRA says it's unacceptable that only five recruits have been assigned to the Cork region when the force Leeside is operating with nearly
100 fewer gardaí than in 2008.

It's expected the bulk of the trained-up 100 recruits leaving in this batch will be deployed to the Dublin area while the Cork population will receive the same number of recruits as Kerry despite its significantly bigger population.

GRA representative for the members of Cork West Division Jason Collins told RedFM News that a recruitment drive needs to be launched urgently.
