Cork City Council is being urged to support communities seeking investment in public parks in the St Luke's area after Grattan Hill playground was named among the top five "drug activity hot spots" by council officials.
Local Green Party representative Oliver Moran says the park has been allowed fall into dis-repair and for many local residents it's the only green space they have as many don't have gardens..
Locals have organised clean-ups and fundraising events for Railway Park where the remains of heroin use are regularly found..
