Gurranabraher Credit Union Members set for boost after decision to return contributions of former death benefit scheme

Members of a Northside Credit Union are set to receive payments into their accounts from tomorrow from the institution after it took the decision to repay contributions from a former death benefit insurance scheme it was forced to close.
It's understood members of Gurranabraher Credit Union will receive several hundred euros into their accounts from the scheme that operated between 2003 and 2019.
The scheme was closed as a result of a change in law and the contributions made to that, which total €2.5 million, are set to be returned.
Several members had called for the initiative to be reintroduced however speaking to RedFM News former Lord Mayor Tony Fitzgerald says this will be a great boost for the members:
