Health Minister issues statement as Cork Mum walks to Dublin
Minister Simon Harris has issued a statement on medicinal cannabis following a protest walk from Cork to Dublin by a mum from Blarney.
The Health Minister acknowledged the difficult situation Vera Twomey is in and says the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health are planning to discuss the issue next month.
Vera has met with the Health minister on previous occasions and called for the use of CBD cannabis oil to be legalised for medicinal purposes.
Vera's daughter Ava suffers from a rare form of epilepsy called Dravets Syndrome causing up to 16 seizures a day, but the use of cannabis related products can control the severity of the seizures..
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Vera Says walking to the capital is nothing compared to the suffering her daughter goes through on a daily basis:
