Health Protection Surveillance Centre Unable To Collate Today's Covid Figures Because Of Yesterday's Cyber Attack

The breach has also led to the cancellation of some services

The CUH has cancelled radiotherapy appointments on Monday, and patients with X-ray appointments on Monday have been advised not to attend unless contacted.

The vaccination programme is unaffected, however anyone with covid symptoms is asked to attend a walk-in centre, as the GP referral system for testing is down.

Chief Clinical Officer with the HSE, Dr. Colm Henry, says the scale of the attack is unprecedented:

"All national and local systems are affected. It's had a very profound effect on our services, particularly hospitals, and particularly those services reliant and enabled by at IT: radiology, pathology, anything requiring lab results. Our hospital systems, who operate off patient information systems - all these are down. We're now seeing systems which are now back to engaging with each other, to ordering tests manually, to transcribing tests, and that means healthcare is much slower."
