Heartbroken Mum slams government's efforts on tackling speed in housing estates

A mother who lost her young son after he was struck by a car while playing outside his home has accused the Government of time wasting. Roseanne Brennan was reacting to the news that a new 20km/h speed limit is to be introduced in residential areas but at the discretion of local authorities. Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe confirmed the measure will be included as an option in this summer’s Road Traffic Bill. In the first session of a two dauy Dail debate he said the tragedies of road accidents need to be balanced with practical realities.
