High Court Grants Leave To Seek Judicial Review Of Planning Permission For OPW's €20 Million Blackpool Flood Relief Scheme

A hearing in the High Court today granted leave on seven grounds, to seek a judicial review of planning permission for the scheme

The plan has faced a number of objections, including from the Save-Our-Bride-Otters group, who have raised over €16,000 to fund the judicial review.

The group say that they have no wish to add to the hardship of the residents and businesses of Blackpool, who have experienced flooding, but that there is time to find a solutio, that both protects from flooding, and also leaves Blackpool Village with a river, and an important wildlife corridor and habitat.

The next court date has been set as October 12th, for the exchange of documents.
