History of Good Shepherd Convent must be considered before redevelopment

The History of Cork's Good Shepherd Convent must be taken into account before any redevelopment can take place.
The concerns were raised by local residents at a public meeting last night, about the possibility of human remains in unmarked graves on the site of the former Magdalen laundry.
The Convent operated as an orphanage and a Magdalen laundry until the late 1970's, and it's estimated 30,000 women were admitted over it's 150 year history.
It comes as the remains of young children and babies were discovered at a mother and baby home Tuam, with many survivors of these homes, saying that case is just the tip of the iceberg.
Speaking to the Neil Prendeville show on Cork's RedFM Councillor Ted Tynan says experts need to be allowed survey the former convent site before any work takes place:
