Homecoming planned for Cork Hurlers

An official homecoming is planned for the Cork hurlers - whether they win or lose. City Hall has finalised details of the event, which is costing €50,000. The hurlers are due to arrive back into the city on Monday and up to 15,000 fans are expected to fill the South Mall and Parnell Place. The party kicks off at 6.45pm on Monday on a stage at the corner of the two streets and proceedings will be shown on large screens. Cork's RedFM's Dave Mac will be DJ on the night while entertainment will be provided by The Buachaills and a group of samba dancers. The team are expected to arrive at 7.30pm. Details of road closures will be confirmed later this week while security personnel and health and safety teams will be working over the coming days.
