Homeless Families In East Cork Forced To Travel To City For Shelter

Families who become homeless in East Cork are being forced to travel to the city for emergency accommodation.
That's according to local councillors who are are calling on the County Council to provide a homeless shelter as a stopgap until suitable accommodation can be found.
Cllr Mary Linehan Foley says there is an increasing need for proper homeless services in the area, as families are not being accepted in B&B's or local hotels and must make the 45 min journey into the city.
They are calling for additional funding for a dedicated shelter to be established in the area, despite a report from the council saying there is no demand for such a facility.
Speaking to RedFM News Cllr Mary Linehan Foley from Youghal says the homeless situation is continuing to worsen in the area:
