Homelessness is at crisis level

Homeless services are at breaking point. That's the warning from the Simon Commmunity in it's pre-budget submission. Simon says the recession is putting more people at risk of homelessness. And it claims the commitment to end long-term homelessness by 2016 will fail if the sector receives more cuts in the budget. This is Cork Simon Week and events are being hosted to highlight the challenges faced by homeless people. Also, the talents of the residents in Cork Simon's shelter will be recognised as well as the work of the 1,000 volunteers working for the organisation. Niamh Randall of Simon says the situation is already at crisis point: (Click above for audio)
