Hopes new compromise deal on city boundary extension will be given green light
It's hoped a deal hammered out in relation to the contentious city boundary extension will provide a solution to ongoing row of the boundary lines.
It emerged yesterday that Ballincollig, Blarney, Glanmire and Cork Airport will all become part of the city as proposed by the MacKinnon Review Group.
However, Little Island and Carrigtwohill are expected to remain part of the county under the compromise deal.
Talks were ongoing at County Hall last evening where it's reported councillors were divided on the proposed deal however it's not expected to impact on the process.
It's said councillors in the City Hall have, for the most part, welcomed the deal on the table.
If the plan is given the green light the city's popiulation will increase by around 120,000.
