Hopes That The Ordination Of Deacons In The Cloyne Diocese Will Boost Vocations

The Bishop of Cloyne ordained six new Deacons over the weekend
It's hoped the ordination of Deacons in the Diocese of Clyone will increase vocations to the priesthood.
That's according to one of Cork newest Deacons, Eddie Mulhare from Castlemartyr, who says countries who have introduced the diaconate in the past have recorded a surge in vocations thereafter.
It comes as the Bishop of Cloyne ordained six new Deacons over the weekend, saying the men will greatly contribute to the Diocese but are not seen as a replacement for falling priest numbers.
Bishop William Crean welcomed the ordination of the married men as an example of the potential for lay people to get involved in ministry.
