Hosepipe ban to remain in place despite recent rainfall
The 6 week hosepipe ban will remain in place until July 21st despite rainfall across the country.
Irish Water says of 900 water schemes, 37 are still in drought and 59 are at risk of drought.
Managing Director Niall Gleeson explains why the ban has to continue.
"We did see some reduction in non-domestic demand, but not enough to compensate for the big increase in domestic demand.
"Our concern is that as businesses return, next week we'll have hairdressers and pubs returning and they'd be quite heavy consumers of water.
"If the domestic demand remains high, and those new businesses start to come back and start to use water then we may have issues."
