Hospital overcrowding at critical level in Cork
The Irish Patients Association says there is no singular solution to hospital overcrowding.
The group which advocates on behalf of patients was responding to claims from doctors that any response to hospital overcrowding that ignores bed shortages will fail.
The IMO says the lack of acute beds in public hospitals is causing chaos in Emergency Departments.
It comes as the latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there are 32 people lying on trolleys at Cork University, the Mercy and Bantry General Hospitals today.
Stephen Mc Mahon of the Patients Association says the problem is more complex than just the number of beds:
