Housing Shortage Poses Obstacles For Employment and Growth Leeside

The shortage of housing in Cork City poses potential obstacles for the future employment and economic growth in the city.
That's according to members of the City Council who have reiterated the importance of the boundary extension for the implementation of more housing.
Employment in the city grew by 9% since 2011, however a survey found that 72% of employers saw accommodation as a challenge for their employees.
The City council currently has enough land to deliver 18,000 housing units and the expansion of the city boundary will aid in the delivery of more housing to meet demands.
Speaking to RedFM News, Chief Executive of Cork City Council Pat Ledwidge says the scaricity of land and housing is creating social and economic challenges.
