Housing Units Required In Regeneration Of North Main Street

The regeneration of North Main Street must include housing units in order to create a vibrant city community.
That's according to Housing Charity Threshold who welcomed Cork City Council's strategy to work with NAMA to provide improved retail and accommodation options on the street.
UCC's planning department proposed the council introduce a rates incentive on the street to encourage new retailers, and another to encourage people to live in the vacant properties above the retail units.
Over the past few years, North Main street has lost many of its best known retailers, including Roman House, Maher's sport and Dunnes Stores.
Speaking to RedFM News Regional Manager of Threshold Niall Horgan says the councils plan must be to encourage city living:
