HPV vaccine defended
Fresh concerns have been expressed about the cervical cancer vaccine.
The head of research at the Irish Cancer Society has moved to assure people about the safety of the HPV vaccine.
The society chose to speak out after parents of teenage girls contacted the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM expressing their concern about the cervical cancer vaccine.
The parents say their teenage daughters suffered severe side effects, after being administered the Gardasil vaccine, including seizures, migraines and fatigue.
Support group REGRET said the HSE and Health Minister Leo Varadkar have ignored their requests for help, telling them the procedure is safe.
Dr Robert O'Connor of the Irish Cancer Society insists the vaccine is safe and vital in order to help prevent a number of forms of cancer.
