HSE Claims All 19 Maternity Units In State Now Fully Compliant With Guidelines On Partner Access

At a minimum, partners should be allowed to visit for at least 30 minutes a day, be facilitated during labour, during the anomaly scan or any other visit of emotional significance as well as given access to the NICU

However some members of the Oireachtas Health Committee say they're still being contacted by constituents whose experience is at odds with the guidance.

HSE Chief Clinical Officer Dr Colm Henry says the guidelines on partner access will be amended this week:

"This week we're amending it to look at exactly those areas where there may be difficult news and in particular anxiety, and that's those early pregnancy assessment units. That's people with high risk pregnancies and that's people presenting in emergency situations in later pregnancy."
