HSE confirms all interns will be paid for all hours worked

The Irish Medical Organisation and the HSE met this morning to discuss issues of pay for interns.

Its after a memo was issued to doctors in Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown stating that they would not be paid for overtime.

It comes ahead of a meeting of the Emergency Department Taskforce this lunchtime, as 555 patients wait on trolleys around the country.

That number stands at 74 in Cork with 45 on trolleys in Cork University Hospital, 18 in the Mercy University Hospital and 11 in Bantry Genral Hospital.

It's emerged that Cork University Hospital has transferred patients to other Cork hospitals as the overcrowding crisis persists.

Dr. Paddy Hillery is from the IMO.
