HSE Home Help Who Stole €11,000 From Pensioner Handed Suspended Sentence

A former HSE home help who stole over €11,000 from an 89 year old house bound pensioner has been handed a suspended eight month sentence.
47 year old Shirley O'Connell from the Lawn, Westgrove, Donnybrook, Douglas pleaded guilty to nine counts of theft between October 2016 and February 2018.
The Court heard that O'Connell had access to the pensioners ATM card and knew her pin and had withdrawn varying sums over the 16 month period.
The court also heard that O'Connell had repaid all monies taken from the pensioner.
Judge Olann Kelleher said it was a very serious matter and warned O'Connell that she would be jailed if she ever came before the courts again
