HSE warns about increase in flu and respiratory illnesses across country

The Health Service Executive is warning at-risk people, who have not yet received the flu vaccination, to do so as soon as possible.

It comes as levels of influenza and respiratory illnesses have almost doubled across the country over the past two weeks.

But the HSE is advising that the rate is expected to increase even further in the coming weeks.

One death -  due to influenza  - was reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre early last month.

The HSE's urging people who are at-risk and who haven't been vaccinated to do so at their local doctors or pharmacist.
