Hundreds expected to gather across Cork to Stand Up for Ava

Vera Twomey is continuing her march to the Dáil today calling for the Government to change the legislation surrounding the Cannabis Access Programme
Hundreds of people across Cork are gathering this afternoon to show solidarity with Vera Twomey.
Vera's daughter Ava has a rare form of epilepsy and sometimes suffers up to 20 seizures a day, but the severity of the seizures can be eased by the use of medicinal cannabis.
The Cork mother is walking from Cork to the Dail in protest after her application for medicinal cannabis for Ava was rejected by the Department of Health, on the grounds that a paediatric neurologist could not sign off on it.
Several demonstrations will take place today all across the city and county, as public support grows for the "Stand Up for Ava" initiative.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM mother of four Margaret McKenna says the Government needs to change the legislation to save Ava's life.
