IBTS appeal for blood donations over Christmas

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service says the best gift children spending the Festive Season in Hospital can get is a blood donation.
It comes as the IBTS has raised concerns about its blood stock for premature babies in the run up to Christmas.
This year Christmas Day falls on a Monday and they are issuing an appeal for donors of all blood types to make an extra special effort to donate ahead of Christmas.
Monday is the day that the IBTS have their clinics for Pre-term babies and sick children, and they will be unable to hold their usual clinic on Christmas week.
They are reminding listeners that every donation can save up to three lives.
Speaking to RedFM News IBTS’s Maureen Gill says families who have to spend Christmas in hospital are depending on blood stocks remaining high.
