IBTS Appeal For Extra Blood In Run Up To Christmas

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is issuing a special request for listeners to donate blood in the run up to Christmas.

The IBTS say O negative and B negative are in very short supply Leeside and are calling for regular donors to make a special effort to donate ahead of the festive season.

Christmas Day falls on a Monday this year which means the service will be unable to run two full days of clinics which they say will have a knock on effect for hospital supplies of blood into the New Year.

They will be running extra clinics ahead of Christmas day in an effort to ensure blood stocks do not run out.

Speaking to RedFM News IBTS’s Maureen Gill says they need to enure that they have a fresh supply of O negative in particular
