IBTS appeal for urgent blood donations across Cork

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing for blood donors as stocks are running low and need to be replenished.
The IBTS says the period around either side of Christmas is often challenging as people are busy with festivities and are then focussing on back to work.
Influenza and respiratory illnesses have almost doubled across the country over the past two weeks and as a result many people may not be eligable.
The Health Service Executive is also warning that the rate is expected to increase even further in the coming weeks.
Speaking to RedFM News Donor Recruitment Manager at the IBTS Anne O'Donovan is appealing for people to check out their eligability.
Clinics are being held today in Garryvoe Hotel from 5.00 - 8.30 p.m and in the Regional Centre at St. Finbarr's Hospital, from 3.30 - 7.30 p.m.
