IBTS appeals for blood donation due to Flu outbreak

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing for blood donors amid a doubling of flu cases in recent weeks.

Incidences of the virus have risen from 25.8 per 100,000 to 46.7 per 100,000 people.

Concerns have been expressed that the illness will affect people's ability to donate and as result it could affect stocks.

Clinics are being held Leeside today at Cork Marts, Corrin, Fermoy from 3.00 - 5.00pm and from 7.00 - 9.00 p.m.

The Regional Centre at St. Finbarr's Hospital is also running a clinic from 3.30 - 7.30 p.m.
