IBTS appeals for donors to make extra effort ahead of Bank Holiday Weekend

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is asking listeners across the city and county to make a special effort to donate blood ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.

Blood stocks of O negative and A negative are particularly low Leeside and the IBTS is finding it difficult to maintain a fresh supply of blood for hospitals.

The IBTS say the number of donations typically drop when children are off school, because the routines of regular donors are disrupted.

Speaking to RedFM News Ann O'Donovan of the IBTS says they are appealing to past and present donors to make the time to donate if at all possible:
