IBTS issues appeal for blood this month

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing to past and present donors to make the time to donate this month.
The call has come as blood stocks in Cork are at low levels and the IBTS is finding it difficult to maintain a fresh supply of blood for the hospitals.
There is no substitute for blood and no surgical procedure can go ahead unless there is enough blood available for transfusions.
The IBTS is also reminding people that the simple act of donating can save three lives.
