IBTS warns blood stocks in Cork are at dangerously low levels

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has warned that stocks of blood in Cork are at low levels.
The IBTS is calling on listeners to make a special effort to donate this month and continue to support them as they are finding it difficult to maintain a fresh supply of blood for the hospitals.
No operations can go ahead unless there is enough blood available for transfusions and the IBTS is reminding people that just one donation can save three lives.
Speaking to RedFM News Professor Ian Han of the IBTS says the demands for blood have risen again after many elective surgeries were deferred over the winter season.
Donors can go along to the fixed clinic at St Finbarr's Hospital today where the clinic is running from 3.30 -7.30pm and details of all upcoming clinics can be found at giveblood.ie.
