Importance Of Agriculture To Rural Towns In Cork Highlighted By Irish Farmers Association

Hundreds of farmers took part in rallies in five Cork towns yesterday, to demand that the government do more to protect the industry from cuts to CAP payments
The Irish Farmers Association also say that food production could be threatened by the governments Climate Action Bill, which farmers say is putting them under unnecessary pressure.
Harold Kingston from Courtmacsherry took part in yesterday's rally in Bandon.
He told RedFM News that farmers are not happy about the new proposals:
"300,000 jobs across the country, directly related to agriculture and agricultural production. The current discussions on the CAP are removing the link between being active and being productive and delivering food for Europe. Basically make us jump through hoops in order to do environmental work for which we have no guarantee of being paid anything extra."
