Incinerator plans at Ringaskiddy resurface

Indaver Ireland is to submit a revised planning application for a €160 million twin incinerator project for Ringaskiddy in Cork Harbour.
An Bord Pleanala refused planning permission for the facility in 2011 but a recent ruling by the board has paved the way for the waste management company to apply again for planning.
The new proposal differs from the previous one in that the size of the hazardous waste incinerator has been reduced by 60,000 tonnnes.
However the size of the second municipal waste incinerator has been increased from 100,000 to 200,000 tonnes.
The Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment group has fought a bitter battle to prevent attempts to build the incinerator.
Reacting to the resurfacing of the planning application this morning Mary O'Leary of Chase told RedFM News the facility threatens the whole image of Cork Harbour:
