Increase in number of homeless children in Cork

Cork Simon has reacted to the findings of a report which claims that 1 in 8 children are now living in consistent poverty.
The TASC study also found that child poverty almost doubled during the recession and Simon says these figures are reflected in Cork where 83 children in Cork and Kerry were homeless in the month of June..
Last year Cork Simon supported 1300 people and the charity says since the start of the year an average of 9 people a night are sleeping rough on the streets of Cork
Over one third of children in Ireland experienced deprivation and despite the economic recovery many families are not feeling the benefits of the turnaround..
Speaking to RedFM News Paul Sheehan of Cork Simon says poverty and homelessness has a detrimental impact on children
