The overcrowding crisis at Cork University Hospital has been described as "intolerable"
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says hospitals need to take immediate action whenever an Emergency Department goes into an overcrowding situation.
The INMO's Trolley Watch figures this afternoon show that 40 people are being treated on trolleys at CUH and the union says these numbers confirm the system continues to be under unsustainable pressure
Mary Rose Carroll of the INMO says the hospitals are bursting at the seams and the waiting lists have gone through the roof
Speaking to RedFM News she says it is a very difficult situation for their members but admits that it is worse for patients
