INMO says overcrowding protocol's not implemented in CUH on time

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has criticised management at the Cork University Hospital for not implementing the full capacity protocol before today.

The CUH is the most overcrowded in the country for the third day in a row, with 45 patients waiting on trolleys in the ED and earlier today issued a request for patients to contact their GP's instead of attending the ED.

The protocol aims to tackle overcrowding, by cancelling non urgent procedures in order to concentrate on clearing ED admissions.
