Instances of sexually transmitted diseases on the increase

There has been a 75% increase in new cases of HIV across Ireland compared to this time last year.
328 new cases of HIV have been reported so far this year, with one case diagnosed in Cork last week.
The HSE says the continued rise in cases of preventable diseases is a cause for concern.
Other sexually transmitted diseases are also on the rise with 7,000 new cases reported this year to date.
The Cork Sexual Health Centre offer an STI screening service on Wednesday evenings (screenings are available Monday - Friday at the Victoria Hospital).
As well as these screenings free Rapid HIV testing is offered at their Peter's street office.
