Investigation launched after shotgun fired in Wilton

No one was injured but it's understood the loaded firearm was used in a built up residential area.

Gardaí in the city have launched an investigation after a shot gun was fired in the Wilton area of the city last night.

Gardaí assisted by members of the Regional Support Unit and the Garda Dog Support Unit were called to the incident in Summerstown Grover at around 8pm last night.

It's understood a man an elderly man fired a shot gun the built up residential area. 

Youths who were standing on a wall nearby called the gardaí after they heard the shot being fired.

The authorities confiscated the firearm and it's understood a man in his 70s is assisting gardaí in Togher with their inquiries.
