Investigation underway into tallship crash off Cork coast

A major investigation is underway following a tallship crash off the Cork coast. Efforts will be made today to salvage the Astrid which suffered engine failure and drifted on to rocks near Oysterhaven. The 30 crew, which included 23 teenagers, were rescued and brought to shore in Kinsale. The Dutch vessel was part of a tallship fleet that was sailing into Kinsale for the Gathering. Chief Executive of the Irish Sailing Association Harry Hermon was on a nearby rib. He told Cork's RedFM that the RNLI and Coast Guard must be praised for saving the lives of those on board: (Click above for audio)
