Ireland is among the most expensive countries in the world for childcare

That's according to a new UNICEF report

 

Parents here are spending up to half of one income to put two children in to childcare.

Unicef says governments must ensure affordable quality childcare is available, while investment is also required in childcare professionals working conditions.

Elaine Dunne, Chairperson of the Federation of Early Childcare Providers, says Ireland's childcare system is the lowest funded in the EU - and has been for some time:
