The leader of Cork's Council of Trade Unions says Ireland is under threat of derailment if public service facilities continue to face closure
Barry Murphy has been reacting to the ongoing dispute over the closure of the Cork Mails Centre at Little Island that's left over 240 workers without jobs
An Post says the facility is operating below 25% capacity and says it'll offer exit packages, redeployment opportunities and will assist employees in finding alternative work.
But Barry Murphy says there's a real danger in businesses that pay little or no tax replacing well paid tax paying public servants.
Speaking to RedFM News, he also says the closure could be the beginning of the country's postal service heading down the same road as the housing and health sectors:
