Ireland's Alcohol Consumption 80% Above Global Average

Ireland's consumption of alcohol is 80 per cent above the global average.

Alcohol Action Ireland is calling on the Finance Minister to maintain the current excise duties on drink, in its pre-budget submission today.

It says the high level of harmful drinking in this country amounts to 11 litres of booze being consumed per capita every year.
