IRHA calls for urgent action on Insurance costs

The Irish Road Haulage Association is calling for urgent action from the government to tackle spiralling insurance costs.

The IRHA claims haulage firms are "re-flagging" abroad, where their premiums are up to half the price compared with Ireland.

The association says the exchequer's losing out to the tune of a quarter of a million euro each time a truck is registered abroad.

The IRHA is among a number of commercial groups giving evidence to the Oireachtas Finance committee later on the insurance issue.
