IRHA have concerns addressed at emergency meeting in Brussels

The meeting was called to discuss the safety of Irish truck drivers at the port of Calais.

The Irish Road Haulage Association say many of their concerns have been addressed following an emergency meeting in Brussels with the EU Commissioner on the migrant crisis.

The meeting was called in a bid to tackle the difficulties facing Irish road haulage operators in the port of Calais.

Hundreds of migrants are attempting to board vehicles at the port in an effort to cross the channel tunnel to the UK.

One migrant died in the last 24 hours after being electrocuted trying to get ontod a UK-bound freight train in Calais.

Speaking to RedFM News, IRHA President Verona Murphy says Commissioner Bulc committed to a number of their requests at the meeting.
