Irish Blood Transfusion Service depend on donors to save and improve lives 365 days a year

The IBTS say one in four people will require a blood transfusion at some point in their lives, but only 3% of the population donate blood
They are calling on listeners to make a special effort to donate at their local clinic, particularly after the bank holiday weekend.
The service says that hospitals depend on blood donations for a range of procedures, and blood stocks can be depleted very quickly.
Speaking to RedFM News IBTS Donor Recruitment Manager Maureen Gill says they aim to have a constant and even supply of blood products.
