Irish motorists in favour of returning to motor school over receiving penalty points

This comes following a survey by AA Ireland which shows 8 out of 10 drivers in Ireland are in favour of an option to return to driving school than receiving penalty points
8 out of 10 drivers in Ireland are in favour of an option to return to driving school rather than the imposition of penalty points on their licence
The figures come from a recent poll conducted by AA Ireland who surveyed almost 11,000 motorists.
The organisation says that there is definitive proof that penalty points work, but it is not the only measure that can be used.
They argue that it is not a soft option on drivers, as they are only used for certain types of offence and drivers can only complete one course in a three year period.
Repeat offenders will receive penalty points and have their licence suspended.
Speaking to RedFM News PR for AA Ireland Barry Aldworth says it is something that should be considered in the future.
