Irish Rail Train Drivers Reject A Pay Rise In Return for Increased Productivity

The Labour Court had recommended a 1.15% pay hike
The Labour Court had recommended a 1.15 percent pay hike to allow for driver training which would lead to more frequent services.
However it was rejected by members of SIPTU and the NBRU.
In November Cork rail commuters were forced to make alternative travel arrangements as rail workers began the first of five national 24-hour strikes.
Pickets at Kent Station saw the cancellation of services to and from Cobh, Midleton, Little Island, Mallow and the city centre, as well as intercity travel to Dublin and the rest of the country.
Speaking this evening Barry Kenny from Irish Rail says he "regrets" the outcome of the ballot:
