Members of the Irish Road Hauliage are suffering from stress due to migrant crisis in Calais
The Irish Road Hauliage Association says their members are suffering from extreme stress because of the migrant crisis in Calais.
It comes as security is to be increased in the area with the construction of a four metre high wall to prevent migrants from climbing aboard lorries bound for the UK.
Construction is set to begin immediately on the one kilometre wall with the British taxpayer expected to pick up the two million euro bill.
The French Government has agreed to dismantle the "Jungle" migrant camp following recent protests by hauliers, farmers and business owners in Calais.
The IRHA say many of their drivers are being assaulted by migrants desperate to cross the channel tunnel.
Speaking to RedFM News IRHA President Verona Murphy says the situations places huge stress on lorry drivers and their families.
